Top buyer questions
The 4 things teams ask before they commit
- Can I sell my game commercially?
- The Indie plan covers personal and non-commercial projects. To sell or otherwise earn revenue from your game you need a Studio or Enterprise license (upgrade any time by paying the difference). No tier pays royalties — on Studio and Enterprise you keep 100% of your game's revenue.
- Can I use the editor in my browser without installing anything?
- Yes. The same visual editor that ships inside the Electron Studio app is available as a web application. Open it in any modern browser to paint terrain, manage items, configure quests, maps, and edit every game system — no download required. The browser editor is included with Studio and Enterprise licenses (Indie includes the desktop app only), and anyone can try it. Connect your own remote PostgreSQL database for free, or subscribe to a managed hosted plan starting at $19.99/month. Every new account gets a free 1-hour trial with no credit card required. Add a card to extend the trial to 7 full days.
- Can I upgrade my license tier later?
- Yes. You can upgrade from your account dashboard at any time and you only pay the difference. For example, upgrading from Indie ($149.99) to Studio ($299.99) costs $150.00 — not the full Studio price. Your existing license key and activated devices carry over automatically.
- Are purchases refundable?
- No. All sales are final — we do not offer refunds, exchanges, or cancellations on completed purchases, because your license key and download are delivered the moment payment clears. That is why the trial exists: evaluate the real editor free for an hour with no card, extend it to seven days with one, and read the docs and plan comparison before you spend anything. The only money we return is for a payment error — a duplicate charge, an unauthorized charge, or a failure to deliver. Full terms are in our Refund Policy at /legal/refund-policy.
