Quick transfer between the bag and the bank, chests, shops and trades; the phone layout; and how to restyle item slots and every item window.
Item Windows & Item Slots
Six windows hold items beside the player's bag: the Bank, a Chest, an NPC Shop, the Market, the Trade window and Mail. This page covers what they share: how players move items between them and the bag, what a bulk move leaves alone, how the pair is laid out on a phone, and how you make them look like your game instead of the default one.
There is no new feature flag here. Each window keeps its own (Bank, Player Chests, NPC Shops, Market, Trading — see Feature Flags).
Where to author it#
| What | Where |
|---|---|
| The look of an item slot in every grid | UI & HUD editor → Panels → Item slots (top of the list, under Every item grid) |
| One window's own slot look | UI & HUD editor → Panels → the window → Item slots in this window |
| How many columns a window's grid has | UI & HUD editor → Panels → the window → Item grid |
| A window's sections, frame, colours, art and placement | UI & HUD editor → Panels → Bank, Chest, NPC Shop, Market or Trade |
| A window rebuilt from widgets | The same panel → Custom layout (last card) |
| How one kind of chest looks | Database → Items → the chest item → Chest tab → Chest window |
| The "how many?" picker | UI & HUD editor → Panels → Quantity Picker |
Quick transfer#
Whenever one of these windows is open, the bag knows it. Players no longer have to drag.
| Gesture | What it does |
|---|---|
| Right-click an item | Moves it to the other window. A stack asks how many (the quantity picker) |
| Shift-click, or Shift + right-click | Moves the whole stack, no questions |
| Double-click an item in the bank or a chest | Takes the whole stack |
| Click an item, then the Take button | The same, for players who prefer buttons |
| Drag | Still works, in both directions |
The gesture works from both sides: right-click a bag item to deposit, sell or offer it; right-click an item in the vault or chest to take it.
| Open window | A bag item goes… | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Bank | into the vault | Away from a banker the server still refuses it — see Bank |
| Chest | into the chest | Not offered on a view-only chest or a loot-only treasure chest |
| NPC Shop | to the merchant (sold) | Right-click sells one, as it always has; shift-click sells the whole stack. Only items the shop has a price for |
| Trade | into your offer | Stops once you have confirmed |
| Market | onto the Sell tab, ready to price | Nothing is listed until the player sets a price and confirms |
| onto the letter as its attachment | A letter carries one item, so a second one replaces the first. Nothing leaves the bag until the letter is sent |
With no window open, the bag behaves as before: right-click equips or uses, shift-click splits a stack.
The buttons#
| Button | Window | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Deposit all | Bank, Chest | Moves every stack in the bag across, in bag order, until the vault or chest is full |
| Stack matching | Bank, Chest | Moves only the kinds of item the vault or chest already holds — the fast way to unload a gathering trip |
| Take all | Chest | Takes everything the bag has room for. On a loot-only treasure chest it is the highlighted button |
| Take / Take all N | Bank, Chest | Appear when an item is selected |
Each button is one request, and the game server decides which items move. Nothing a player's client says is trusted beyond "deposit everything" or "deposit what matches". The buttons live in a section called Quick-transfer buttons, so you can move it or hide it under Sections like any other part of the window. Hiding the section removes the buttons, not the gestures.
Each deposit button shows how many stacks it will move, for example Deposit all (12). The first Deposit all of a play session asks the player to confirm; after a yes it does not ask again until they next log in. Stack matching never asks.
What a bulk move never takes#
Deposit all and Stack matching leave three kinds of item in the bag, every time:
| Stays in the bag | Why |
|---|---|
| Quest items | Any item whose type is Quest Item. Losing track of one can strand a quest |
| Items on the action bar | Any kind of item bound to a hotbar slot — the potion on key 5 stays where the key expects it |
| Locked items | Anything the player marked with Lock (below) |
The chat line says so: "Kept in your bag: 1 quest item(s), 2 on your action bar, 0 locked." The rule is applied by the game server, not the player's client. Take all has no exceptions — it only brings things into the bag.
A single, deliberate move is not a bulk move: a player can still drag a quest item or a hotbar potion into a chest, or right-click it across.
Locking an item#
Players can lock any item in their bag.
| How | Where |
|---|---|
| Alt-click the item | In the bag |
| The Lock / Unlock button | In the item's details (double-click the item) |
| The Lock / Unlock button | On a phone, in the bar above the bag after tapping the item |
A locked item shows a small padlock in its corner, and:
- Deposit all and Stack matching skip it.
- The quick gestures ignore it. Right-click, shift-click and double-tap do nothing to it while a bank, chest, shop, trade, market or mail window is open — so a slip next to a merchant cannot sell it.
- It cannot be sold to an NPC shop at all. The server answers "That item is locked. Unlock it in your bag to sell it."
- Dragging it into a bank, chest or trade still works. That is a deliberate move.
The lock belongs to the bag. An item stored in a bank or chest comes back out unlocked.
On a phone#
Two floating windows do not fit a phone, so there aren't two. When the Bank, a Chest, a Shop or a Trade opens on a phone, it and the bag become one layout that fills the screen under the top bar: the window in one half, the bag in the other. Held upright they are stacked; held sideways they sit side by side.
There is no right-click on a phone, so items cross with a tap:
- Tap an item. Its name appears in the bar above the grid.
- Tap Deposit (or Store, Sell, Offer, Take — the button is named for the window that is open). A stack asks how many.
- Or double-tap the item to send the whole stack at once.
Press and hold an item to read its tooltip. On a phone the shop also shows its Buy / Sell button and quantity stepper in a bar under the wares, because the detail pane that normally holds them has no room.
The Market fills the phone screen. Tap a listing and its order book, Buy button and buy-order form rise as a sheet over the list (on a wide screen that is the right-hand column); Back to listings closes it. On the Sell tab the market shares the screen with the bag: tap an item in the bag, tap List, set the price. My orders is a plain list and works at any width.
Mail shares the screen with the bag while you compose, so an attachment is a tap and Attach.
You don't set any of this up. It follows the same rule as the rest of the phone HUD — see UI & HUD editor.
Tooltips#
Every item slot in these windows now shows the same card the bag shows: stats, affixes, description, and the comparison against what the player is wearing. That covers the vault, chests, shop wares (Buy, Sell and Buyback), market listings and the order book, both sides of a trade, mail attachments, the repair list, the loot-roll card and saved loadouts.
Where a slot shows a kind of item rather than a copy somebody owns — a shop ware, a market listing, what the other player put on the table — the card describes the base item. Rolled extras such as affixes belong to the actual copy, so they appear once the player owns it.
Item slots#
Item slots is one look, used by every item grid in the game: the bag, bank, chests, shop wares, the market's sell grid, trade offers, mail attachments, the repair list, saved loadouts, the loot-roll card, the contents list of a premium-shop product and the crafting window.
- Open the UI & HUD editor and go to Panels.
- Pick Item slots at the top of the list.
- Change a field. The preview beside it redraws with sample items.
- Save. The running game picks it up straight away.
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Shape | Rounded, Square, Circle, Hexagon, or Custom frame image (the slot draws nothing but your frame) |
| Corner radius | How round a Rounded slot is, 0–24 px |
| Slot size | Fit the window shares the row evenly. Fixed size pins every slot to 28–96 px |
| Gap between slots | 0–16 px. Left unset, each grid keeps its own built-in gap, so changing the shape or colours never shifts a layout |
| Border thickness | 0–4 px. A hexagon or a custom frame has no border of its own |
| Border colour | The border of an item with no rarity colour |
| Slot fill | A flat colour behind the item |
| Rarity colour shows as | Glow (the built-in look), Border only, Colour wash, Corner flag, or Not shown |
| Stack count sits | Any corner, or Hidden |
| Stack count colour | The colour of the number |
| Slot background art | An image behind the item in every slot, empty or filled |
| Frame image | An image drawn over the slot. Leave its middle transparent |
One window that differs#
Every item window has an Item slots in this window card with the same fields. A field left on Same as every grid follows the world's look; anything you set applies to that window alone. A shop with gilt circular slots and a bank with plain square ones is two cards.
Presets#
A UI preset saved from the Presets tab now includes the world's item-slot look, and applying a preset puts it back — including back to the built-in slot, if that is what the preset was saved with. Presets saved before this did not record a slot look, so applying one of those returns slots to the built-in look.
The windows themselves#
Bank, Chest, NPC Shop, Market and Trade are ordinary entries in the Panels list, so each takes the full set of cards.
| Card | What you can change |
|---|---|
| Show this window | Switch the window off entirely |
| Window frame & title | Header style, title alignment, header icon, width, spacing, button style, ornaments, the opening motion |
| Where it opens | Where the window opens on screen |
| Sections | Hide or reorder each named part of the window |
| Item grid | Columns per row, 2–12. In the shop this is the wares grid; in the market, the grid on the Sell tab; in a trade, both offers |
| Item slots in this window | The slot look, for this window only |
| Colours & shape | Accent colour, corner radius, opacity |
| Background & frame art | A background image and a 9-slice frame |
| Custom layout | Rebuild the body from widgets (Bank, Chest, NPC Shop, Market and Trade) |
| Window | Sections |
|---|---|
| Bank | Capacity meter · Search & sort · Quick-transfer buttons · Vault grid · Hint footer |
| Chest | Access editor · Slots & weight meters · Search & sort · Quick-transfer buttons · Chest grid · Hint footer |
| NPC Shop | Buy / Sell / Buyback + search · Merchant greeting · Wares grid · Ware detail & ticket |
| Market | Filters rail · Listings board · Order book & buy ticket · Sell tab · My orders tab |
| Trade | Your offer · Their offer · Confirm / cancel bar |
Custom layout#
Custom layout replaces a window's body with widgets you place yourself. These lists are available to a Repeat List widget:
| List | In which window | Fields |
|---|---|---|
| Bag items | Bank, Chest, NPC Shop, Market | Name, icon, quantity |
| Vault items | Bank | Name, icon, quantity, base value |
| Chest items | Chest | Name, icon, quantity, base value |
| Shop wares | NPC Shop | Name, icon, price, stock |
| Market listings | Market | Name, icon, price, quantity, seller |
| Your offer / Their offer | Trade | Name, icon, quantity |
A list widget only shows items. The working parts of a window come from the Stock Body widget:
- Add a Stock Body widget and select it.
- In Shows, pick The whole built-in body, or Only: one section — the vault grid, the shop's wares, the trade's confirm bar.
- Add one Stock Body per section you want to keep, and place each where you like.
A section placed this way is the real thing: players click it, drag from it, drop onto it and buy from it exactly as in the built-in window. So a custom Bank can be your own artwork and labels around the live vault grid and the live quick-transfer buttons, with the capacity bar left out.
One kind of chest#
A strongbox, a supply crate and a reliquary can each open their own way. The settings live on the chest item and sit on top of the world's Chest panel.
- Open Database → Items and pick a chest item.
- Go to the Chest tab and find Chest window.
- Fill in only what should differ. A blank field uses the Chest panel's value.
- Save, and publish on a hosted game.
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Window title | Replaces "Chest" in the header |
| Subtitle | A short line under the title, before the slot and weight counts |
| Grid columns | Slots per row for this chest. Wins over the Chest panel's Item grid |
| Accent colour | Meters, the selected slot and the main buttons |
| Window background | An image behind the whole window |
| Background fit | Cover, Contain, Stretch or Tile |
| Window frame (9-slice) | A border image |
| Frame slice (px) | How much of each edge of the frame image is border |
| Header icon | Replaces the chest glyph. It wins over a header icon set on the Chest panel |
| Empty message | What the grid says when the chest holds nothing |
The sound and motion a chest plays when it opens are the Open / Close / Locked cues on the same tab — see Chests & Storage.
Gotchas#
- Untouched means unchanged. If you never open the Item slots card, every grid draws the engine's built-in slot exactly as before. Setting one field does not move anything else: an unset gap keeps each grid's own spacing, and an unset size keeps slots fitted to the window.
- A custom-frame slot with no frame image is invisible. The shape draws no border and no backing by design. Pick a frame image, or pick another shape.
- A hexagon or circle clips the item art to its outline. Icons drawn to the edge of a square lose their corners.
- A fixed slot size can leave empty space beside the grid in a wide window. Raise the columns, or go back to Fit the window.
- Right-click on a bag item changes meaning while a window is open. It deposits, sells or offers instead of equipping or using. Players close the window to get the old behaviour back. The hint line under the bag says which is active.
- Shift-click no longer splits a stack while a window is open — it moves the whole stack. Split stacks with the window closed.
- Deposit all still takes tools and materials. It leaves quest items, action-bar items and locked items, and never touches worn equipment — but an unlocked pickaxe sitting in the bag goes in with the ore. Players lock what they want to keep on them. Stack matching is the careful one.
- A hotbar item is protected by kind. Binding a healing potion to a slot keeps every stack of that potion in the bag on a bulk deposit, not just one.
- Locking needs an up-to-date game server and database. The lock is stored with the item, in a new column. A hosted game picks it up with the normal update; until its server has rolled, the Lock button does nothing.
- The bulk buttons wait their turn. Pressing two of them in quick succession sends only the first; the second is dropped rather than queued.
- Deposit all, Stack matching and Take all need an up-to-date game server. On a hosted game whose server has not rolled to this version yet, the three buttons do nothing. Right-click, shift-click, double-click and drag work on any version, and so does a chest's own window look once the game is published.
- Switching the Quantity Picker panel off makes every "how many?" a whole-stack move, including a plain right-click on a stack.
- A chest's own columns win over the Chest panel's, and the Chest panel's win over the built-in six.
- A recomposed window with no Stock Body widget cannot move items. List widgets are a read-out. Players can still use the bag's own gestures, but there is nothing to click in the window. Add a Stock Body set to the grid section.
- A recomposed Trade needs its confirm bar. Leave the Confirm / cancel bar section out and nobody can confirm; the window's close button still cancels.
- The market's category filters are hidden on a phone. Search and sort remain. The buy sheet covers the lower part of the list until it is closed.
- Loot-only treasure chests have no deposit buttons and refuse deposits from the bag. That is not a setting — see Chests & Storage.
