Personal item storage opened at a banker NPC: 60 slots per character, separate from the bag.
Bank
The bank gives every character a private vault of item storage, separate from their bag. What goes in stays there until that character takes it out. It doesn't count toward bag space, isn't shared with anyone, and isn't part of what a player carries into a fight.
You don't configure the vault itself. What you decide is where players can reach it, and that comes down to one thing: whether your world has a banker NPC.
Where to author it#
| What | Where |
|---|---|
| Turn the bank on or off | World → Features → Bank (on by default). See Feature Flags |
| Make an NPC a banker | Database → NPCs → the NPC → Identity → Roles, tick Banker. See NPCs & Dialogue |
| Show or hide the Bank button | UI & HUD editor → Top Bar tab. Bank sits in the More menu by default, with no hotkey |
| Restyle the vault window, or switch it off | UI & HUD editor → Panels → Bank. Its sections are the capacity bar, the toolbar (filter and sort), the quick-transfer buttons, the grid and the hint line. Columns, slot look and a custom layout are covered in Item Windows & Item Slots |
| Open it from an event | The Show/Hide Menu event command, menu Bank. See Events & Cutscenes |
Setting up a banker#
- Open Database → NPCs and pick or create the NPC who will run the bank.
- Under Identity → Roles, tick Banker. A Banker card appears under Behavior confirming that the NPC offers the bank. There is nothing else to fill in.
- Check that Interactable is ticked under Behavior, so players can talk to the NPC.
- Place the NPC somewhere players will find it: a town bank, a guild hall, the entrance to a dungeon.
- Save, and publish on a hosted game so the live server picks up the role.
- In game, talk to the banker and choose Open Bank.
You can have as many bankers as you like. Every one of them opens the same vault for a given character.
Banker or no banker: the one rule that matters#
| Your world has… | Where players can use the bank |
|---|---|
| No NPC with the Banker role | Anywhere. The top-bar Bank button (or an event) opens the vault, and deposits and withdrawals work wherever the player is standing |
| At least one NPC with the Banker role | Only within 3 tiles of a living banker. Anywhere else, every deposit and withdrawal is refused with "You must be at a banker to use the bank." |
The switch is automatic. The moment any NPC in your database has the Banker role, the bank becomes a place players walk to, which is what makes carrying loot home mean something.
The vault#
| Property | Value | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Slots | 60 per character | Fixed by the engine. There is no setting, purchasable expansion or upgrade that changes it |
| Scope | Per character | Each character on an account has its own vault. Nothing is shared between characters |
| Stacking | Plain copies merge | Depositing more of a stackable item joins the existing stack and uses no new slot. A bank stack has no size limit |
| Unique copies | One slot each | An item with its own state (an upgrade level, runes, affixes, a rolled rarity) keeps its own slot and comes back out exactly as it went in |
| Silver | Not stored | The bank holds items only. Players can't deposit silver |
Stacks only merge when the copies match exactly: same item, same tier, and both stolen or both not. A stolen item stays stolen in the bank, so banking loot doesn't launder it.
How players use it#
The vault is one grid with a capacity bar and a used / 60 slots counter.
- Deposit. Right-click an item in the bag (a stack asks how many), shift-click it to send the whole stack, or drag it onto the vault. Deposit all empties the bag into the vault; Stack matching sends only the kinds the vault already holds.
- Withdraw. Right-click an item in the vault (a stack asks how many), or shift-click / double-click it to take the whole stack. Dragging it to the bag works too.
- Find things. Type in the filter box, or sort by Name, Value or Tier.
- On a phone the vault and the bag share the screen as two halves, and items cross with a tap and a button.
The gestures, the buttons and the phone layout are the same for chests, shops and trades. They are described once, in Item Windows & Item Slots.
Gotchas#
- Adding one banker changes the rules for the whole world. Any NPC with the Banker role counts, even one you haven't placed on a map yet. Author a banker you never place and nobody can use their bank anywhere. Place at least one living banker somewhere reachable, ideally near where players start.
- Hide the top-bar Bank button once you use bankers. The button still opens the vault window anywhere, but deposits and withdrawals made away from a banker are refused. Hide it in the Top Bar tab so the banker is the only way in. Show/Hide Menu → Bank behaves the same way: opening the window is not the same as being allowed to use it.
- The vault's contents are sent at login, so the window shows what is stored wherever it is opened from, banker or not. Away from a banker it is view-only: deposits and withdrawals are still refused until the player stands by one.
- A full vault refuses new items, with "Bank is full!". Items that stack into an existing entry are still accepted.
- A full bag refuses withdrawals. The player gets "Cannot withdraw — inventory is full." and the item stays safely in the vault.
- Deleting an item from your database strands copies in vaults. Players who banked it can't withdraw it and see "… this item no longer exists in the game." Restore the item and it comes out normally.
- Turning the Bank flag off hides the window and the top-bar button, and refuses every bank action with "This feature is currently disabled." A banker still offers Open Bank, and choosing it gets the same message. Vault contents are kept, and they come back when you turn the flag on again.
- Guild banks are a different system. A guild's shared silver treasury is covered in Guilds & Social. For shared or placeable item storage, use Chests & Storage.
- NPC Adventurers use bankers too. With adventurers on, they visit your bankers to deposit surplus silver. See NPC Generator.
