Every saved change keeps the version it replaced. See who changed what, put an older version back, and restore content you deleted in the last 30 days.
History and Trash
Every time you save an item, mob, recipe, skill, quest or other database record, the editor keeps a copy of how it looked before that save. A record's History lists those copies — who saved, when, and which fields differ from now — and lets you put any of them back. When you delete a record, its last version goes to the Trash, where you can restore it for 30 days.
Where to find it#
- History: open a record in its editor and choose the History tab. It is on the Mobs, Abilities, Skills, Recipes, Status Effects, Passives, Achievements, Pets & Mounts (pet species and mounts), Resources, Elements, Instances, Races (Database → Characters → Races) and Classes (Database → Classes) editors, and appears once the record has been saved at least once.
- Trash: Database → System → Trash, or Trash in the left navigation.
Restore an older version#
- Open the record and go to its History tab.
- Find the version you want. Each entry shows its revision number, when it was saved, who saved it and whether the change came from the editor, the AI or an import. Differs in lists the fields that would change.
- Press Restore…. Nothing is written yet — a preview lists every field with its current value and the value it goes back to.
- Press Restore to confirm. The editor closes and the list reloads with the restored values.
A restore is saved exactly like a normal edit: the editor's checks run, the change is logged in the Audit Log, and it is sent to your game server. What was saved before the restore is kept in History too, so you can undo a restore the same way.
Restore something you deleted#
- Open Trash. Use Show to narrow it to one kind of record.
- Press Restore… on the entry. The preview shows the record as it was when it was deleted.
- Press Restore. The record comes back under its original id, is saved once through its editor — so the same checks as a normal save run — and is sent to your game server.
If the editor's checks refuse the record (for example it points at something you have since deleted, or an Instance no longer passes validation), you see the reason, nothing is restored, and the record stays in the Trash. Fix what it points at and try again.
What each History entry shows#
| Field | What it means |
|---|---|
| Revision | The version number for this record, counting up from 1. |
| Date | When the save that replaced this version happened. |
| Author | Who made that save. |
| Source | Editor for your own saves, AI for Copilot changes, Import for imports. |
| Summary | A note such as Before restoring revision 3 when the version was replaced by a restore. |
| Differs in | The fields where this version is different from what is saved now. Same as now means there is nothing to restore. |
What is kept#
History is kept for items, recipes, loot tables, mobs, mob parties, spawn rules, abilities, status effects, passives, skills, NPCs, NPC shops, quests, achievements, crafting stations, world events, common events, map events, map settings, pet species, mounts, resource nodes, elements, instances, races and classes. History for pet species, mounts, resource nodes, elements, instances, races and classes starts with the first save after this was added — earlier edits and deletes were not recorded.
What is checked when you restore a race or class#
A race or class restore saves through the same checks as the editor's Save:
| Field | Rule |
|---|---|
| Race name / Class name | Required. Race names up to 64 characters, class names up to 128. |
| Race id | Never changes — characters, pack rules and saved heroes refer to it. |
| Stat bonuses, stat multipliers, element and status rates | Every value must be a number. |
| Starter items | A row with no item picked is left out; quantities round to a whole number of at least 1. |
| Starter abilities, status immunities, restrictions | Lists of ids; duplicates are removed. |
If the old version no longer passes (for example a class name was blank), the restore is refused and nothing changes.
Gotchas#
- The last 50 versions of each record are kept. Older ones are removed as new saves come in.
- The Trash keeps deleted records for 30 days. After that they are gone for good.
- Restoring an item also gives players their copies back. Copies players held when you deleted it were put aside, not destroyed. See Items & Equipment.
- Map settings do not include map content. Restoring a map's settings leaves its placed objects and events as they are. Map events have their own history.
- Close the editor before you restore somewhere else. If the same record is open in another tab, saving it there writes its old values back over the restore.
- A restore can be refused. If a restored value no longer passes the editor's checks (for example it points at a record you have since deleted), you see why and nothing is changed.
- Restoring a race from the Trash does not re-link it. Characters that listed the race and pack rules that named it were cleared when it was deleted — re-add it to those characters.
- Hosted and managed servers: a restore reaches a running game the same way a save does. Press Publish if your project uses staged publishing.
- There is no feature flag — History and Trash are always on.
