Invite collaborators and edit a project together in real time.

Collaboration

Studio projects can be shared with collaborators and edited together in real time — multiple people painting maps, placing objects, and building at once, with live cursors and presence.

> Collaboration is a Studio Web feature (the browser editor). Cloud projects with a managed game server get the strongest experience (an authoritative, server-ordered editing room); other projects fall back to a best-effort live sync.

Inviting collaborators

From your project on the website dashboard, open Collaborators and add someone by email (or send an email invite). You assign each collaborator one of two roles:

RoleCan do
EditorOpen and edit the project — maps, content, and building.
ViewerOpen the project read-only — watch live edits and cursors, but can't make changes.

The Owner is the project creator (that's you) — an implicit role, not something you assign when inviting. Invites are accepted by signing in with the invited email. Shared projects then appear in each collaborator's project list and in the desktop launcher.

Real-time co-editing

When two or more people have the same map open:

  • Live presence & cursors — you see each collaborator's labeled cursor moving on the map, in every tool.
  • Live sync — tile paints, object-grid layers, placed-object instances, wall/roof building edits, and core map events appear for everyone as they happen.
  • Viewer lock — viewers are fully read-only; their canvas is locked and a banner explains why.
  • Same-map warning — a presence banner tells you when someone else is editing the same map, with an optional View only lock so you don't accidentally overwrite their work.
Changes converge last-writer-wins per cell/object, so concurrent edits settle predictably. With a managed game server, edits are server-ordered and late joiners catch up automatically; without one, a reload re-syncs anything missed.

Tips

  • Glance at the presence banner before bulk operations on a shared map.
  • Use View only when you just want to watch a teammate work.
  • Viewers are a great way to share a work-in-progress world for feedback without risk.
